Dr. Lakhimai Mili, who holds an MA, a PGDTE, and a Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of English at Pondicherry University. She earned her doctorate in Indian Writing in English from North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Meghalaya, India. Early in her academic career, Dr. Mili focused on developing a textbook series for primary students, titled English for Buds (Volumes I–IV). She has actively participated in various seminars and conferences across South Asian countries and has contributed numerous articles to journals and chapters to edited volumes. At Pondicherry University, she has taught a range of subjects including Poetry from Chaucer to Milton, Communicative English, English as a Second Language, English for Science and Technology, Functional Written Communication, Media Studies, and Indian Writing in English. Additionally, she has designed syllabi for courses like Media Studies, Indian Writing in English, and Indian English Literature from North-East India. She has 22 articles published in journals, book Chapters 10 and 4 edited volumes and 1 Co-authored book.
Dr. Mili has also edited four books: English Literature in the Digital Era, Facets of the Millennial Reality: Critical Appraisals of the Writings of Rita Nath Keshari, Environment, Ecosystems and Sustainable Development, and a poetry collection titled Integrating Minds: An Anthology of Campus Poems. She co-authored the book Counter Discourse, Identity and Sumud in Mahmoud Darwish’s Poetry. Beyond her academic and editorial work, she serves as the Chairperson of the Legal Service Clinic for Students from the North East Region of India, an office affiliated with the Union Territory of Pondicherry Legal Services Authority (UTPLSA) at Pondicherry University.
Her academic interests include English Language Teaching (ELT), Eco-Literature, Indigenous Literatures, creative writing, poetry, and research in endangered languages and cultures.
