About the Department

Established as Centre in 2010 under the aegis of Madanjeet School of Green Energy Technologies has been elevated to Department of Green Energy Technology in 2020 with a vision to promote education and research in environmentally clean methods of energy production, conservation and utilization. The department offers M.Tech. in Green Energy Technology, which is partly supported by the South Asia Foundation (SAF) and research (Ph.D.) in the field of renewable energy & related subjects. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has recognized and approved the department as a Nodal Centre. The department promotes research in the fields of all clean sources of energy production, conversion and utilization like solar photovoltaic, solar thermal, energy storage, fuel cells, biofuels, wind energy, ocean energy, chemical energy, applications of nanotechnology for energy conversion, etc. The department has well-trained faculties to teach, offer consultancy and take up research work in many core areas of green energy. The establishment of MOUs with various alternate energy generating firms specializing in photovoltaic, and solar-thermal has taken place. In addition, several MOUs with industries specializing in solar thermal devices and power plant engineering are in the pipeline.

A very warm welcome to the Department of Green Energy Technology at Pondicherry University. The young energetic DGET welcomes all science post-graduates and engineering graduates (CSIR/NET/GATE qualified and non-qualified) who have a desire for post-graduation and research degree in green energy technology. Currently, the department has eleven well-trained faculties who are dedicated to teaching, conducting research, and offering consultancy in various areas of green energy technologies. To teach, train, develop skilled human resources and conduct research and development in niche areas of renewable energy technologies for Atmanirbhar Bharat.
To become the nodal center to deliver consultancy and expertise to industrial and governmental organizations.
To be the hub for technological development, solutions, incubation, validation and support/promote entrepreneurs.

Placement & Internships

M.Tech. Graduates in Green Technology gain employment in emerging clean and renewable energy sectors where national and multinational industries are focusing their business activities on alternate energy production and usage.

Research Projects

Ministry of New Renewable Energy (MNRE-NREF), Innovative programme of University Grants Commission and South Asia Foundation (SAF) has been supporting the teaching and research activities of the Centre. In addition, individual faculty members have projects that are supported by SERB, MNRE, DST, CSIR and UGC.
