About the Department

The MBA programme at Pondicherry University Port Blair Campus in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands was initiated in the academic year 2021-2022 with the primary goal of addressing the limited exposure students face on the islands. Historically, students from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands have had to travel to the mainland of India to pursue higher education in management, particularly MBA programs. Recognizing this gap, the MBA Programme was started to provide students with opportunities for quality management education without the need to leave the islands.

The Programme aims to bring MBA education to the global sector, offering specialized tracks in Human Resource Management, Marketing, Finance, Production, and Systems. These specializations cater to the diverse career aspirations and interests of students while ensuring that they receive comprehensive training in various aspects of management.

By offering these specialized tracks, the programme seeks to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to excel in their chosen fields and contribute meaningfully to the global business landscape. Through rigorous academic training, practical experiences, and exposure to real-world challenges, students are prepared to tackle complex management issues and make informed decisions in their professional lives.

Well-Equipped Library: The Campus maintains a well-equipped library containing a diverse collection of books and journals covering various disciplines of management and insurance. This resource-rich environment supports students in their academic pursuits and research endeavours.
Centralized Computer Lab: A centralized computer lab is available to students, providing access to modern facilities and internet connectivity. This allows for hands-on learning experiences and enables students to stay abreast of developments in their field through online resources and tools.
Remote Access to Library Resources: Students have the convenience of remote access to all library resources, including those housed at the Central Library of Pondicherry University main campus. This feature expands the range of available materials and fosters a collaborative learning environment.
Separate Hostels: The programme ensures comfortable accommodation for students by providing separate hostels for boys and girls. These hostels offer a conducive living environment that supports students’ academic pursuits and personal well-being.
Canteen and Mess: The canteen and mess facilities, offering nutritious meals and refreshments to students, faculties, and staff members, promoting a healthy and vibrant campus environment.
Sports Facilities: The Campus offers sports facilities, including a playground with amenities for volleyball, throw ball, tennikoit, and badminton. Production: Incorporates data science techniques to optimize production processes, including inventory management, supply chain analytics, and predictive maintenance.
Systems: Emphasizes the integration of data science into information systems management, covering areas such as database management, business intelligence, and cyber security using data-driven methodologies.
