Prof. G. Chandhrika is teaching and researching in the Department of History, Pondicherry University for the past 33 years. Starting her career as a college teacher in 1990, she moved on to the Pondicherry University where she is a Professor of History since 2009. Presently, she is also holding the position of Dean, School of Social Sciences and International Studies. She completed a UGC major research project on” The Profession and Practice of Medicine in Colonial South India”. She recently completed a research project on “Engendering Development Goals, Strategies and Action Plans: A Dialogue between India and Europe” under the Scheme for the Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC), sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. She has published articles in peer reviewed international and national journals apart from articles in books and conference proceedings. She has been the recipient of the Best Teacher Award of the Pondicherry University thrice in 2026, 2018 and 2021.
