About
Research Area
Prof. Lakshmi PTV, hailing from Tamil Nadu has done my schooling and higher education at Chennai with Ph.D (September, 2002) from reputed institute of Centre for Advanced Studies in Botany, University of Madras and immediately joined as a consultant to digitalize the medicinal plant diversity of India in a private firm connected to Reliance Life Sciences and subsequently joined as a Project Assistant in a Govt of India sponsored project at the parent department for a short period. Later chose the noble profession of teaching to Lecturer at the Dept of Biotechnology, Hindustan Arts and Science College, Chennai for about a year and with the break of service due to family-way, pursued at Alpha Arts and Science college, Chennai. My academic carrier was strengthened, when I entered into the regular service as Assistant Professor at the Dept of Bioinformatics, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu during April, 2005 and translocated to the present institute- Pondicherry central University in 2010.
Since then, have proved my competency as a challenging women scientist and over this two decades have focused on frontier area of research in Bioinformatics, especially PHYTOMATICS involving molecular diversity, pathobiology, systems biology etc revolving the OMICS knowledge. In fact, through the cutting-edge scientific contributions, have accomplished more than eighty publications in sci-indexed journals (H-index-20 with more than 1200 citation) and has executed numbers of projects funded by UGC, DST and ICMR. I have produced 14 doctorates and is guiding 4 more. Furthermore, has attracted many UG/PG/science academy summer fellows and interns across the country. I have served as the “Visiting Scientist” in the prestigious Institute of Plant and Molecular Biology, Academia Sinica, Taiwan, Taipei and proceeded to National University of Singapore for academic deliberations. Through the academic stream has presented and organized number of conferences/seminars/symposia. Academic excellence and dedications have fetched me opportunities to serve as the chairman, member and nominee in various committees and boards across the state and central Universities of the country.
