Dr. S. Kannan

About
Research Area

Prof. S. Kannan’s work explores the microstructural and compositional aspects of bio ceramics, including the use of rare earth element doping to enhance bioimaging capabilities. This innovative approach has opened new avenues in bioimaging, enhancing visualization in bone tissue engineering applications.
Our lab has also played a key role in cancer theragnostic by designing biomaterial-based platforms that combine targeted drug delivery with imaging, enhancing the dual-purpose use of bio ceramics for both therapy and diagnosis. Currently, we have also developed significant expertise in the field of hydrogels, particularly for biomedical applications. His contributions in this area highlight the versatility of hydrogels as tunable biomaterials for next-generation medical therapies.
