B.Sc. (Honors with Research) Computer Science

The 4-Year B.Sc. Computer Science (Honors with Research) programme, aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, is an advanced undergraduate course designed to offer students a comprehensive and in-depth education in computer science. The programme spans four years, divided into eight semesters, and is structured to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in a wide array of computing fields.

The programme focuses on fundamental and advanced topics in computer science, including programming languages, data structures, algorithm design, database systems, software engineering, operating systems, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, and cloud computing. The NEP 2020 emphasizes interdisciplinary learning, allowing students to explore subjects from other domains like mathematics, engineering, and social sciences. This multidisciplinary approach helps students develop a broad perspective, essential for solving complex real-world problems in a variety of fields.

In line with NEP 2020’s flexible academic structure, the programme incorporates a multiple entry and exit policy. This offers students the option to exit at different stages of the programme with qualifications:

  • After completing the first year, students can receive a Certificate in Computer Science.
  • After completing the second year, students earn a Diploma in Computer Science.
  • After completing the full four years, students will be awarded a B.Sc. Honors with Research in Computer Science degree.

This flexible structure ensures that students can gain meaningful qualifications at various points, even if they decide to exit before completing the full programme.

The programme emphasizes research-driven learning and provides ample opportunities for students to engage in hands-on projects, industry internships, and research assignments. These experiences allow students to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios and stay updated with the latest trends and technologies. Additionally, students are encouraged to pursue research in emerging areas such as data science, AI, blockchain, and cloud computing, fostering innovation and critical thinking.
